Poverty Among Hispanics (Social awarness 3)

This is based on the video from http://www.democracynow.org/2011/9/29/headlines/study_hispanic_children_largest_group_living_in_poverty

This video is about how the number of hispanics under poverty have increased dramatically throughout the years. Immigrants have little chance of getting a job since they are illegal. This is why 6.1 million hispanics children are poor since their parents can't find jobs. Most immigrants that get jobs have jobs that are dangerous like construction working.
Before, poverty rates were 35% hispanics, 39% african-american and 12% white. These were percentages from 2009-2010. The current percentages aren't yet calculated. I can see many hispancs are poor because some have a lot of family members living in one apartment.
I have seen many people that have no homes, but now it has dramatically increased because I have seen more ad more people living in streets. Earning a job is hard these days since tons of people are applying for that same job.

2 Voice Poem(Global Warming)

We all cause Global Warming

It really doesn't matter.

We all should Reuse, Reduce and Recycle to use less waste which goes on water or anywhere.

Why would I waste my time on just sorting garbage. Anyway, it's garbage!

It isn't a waste of time. It saves carbon dioxide for us and other organisms.

It effects all of us. Not only us, but animals.

I only care for myself, not all of us. Why would I care about animals anyway!?

Animals are our brothers. To help them, we must plant as many trees in our neighborhood so the trees could produce carbon dioxide.

Why would I even do that dumb stuff anyway.

Global Warming is BAD.

Domestic Violence(social awareness #2)

This video is based on the video from youtube (doesn't work in school): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IpzzffsISOQ&feature=related

Domestic violence is when someone is abusing you(like hitting, rape, etc) because probably that person is addicted to alchohol or drugs. People that deal with this are mostly women. 1 out of 7 women are dealing with domestic violence. These women are treated like this everyday. More than once each day. Men are usually the abusers. Not all, but most.
These women that get affected get bruises, like the woman in this video, who has a black eye, but covers it with sunglasses. Most women are so scared of their abusers, that they don't tell anyone because they are afraid that they will get abused even more, just like the lady in the video, who doesn't tell her son's principal what's happening since her son hit a girl his class. Maybe someone you know is dealing with domestic violence right now and you don't know. That's how abused these women are.
It's a very bad decision to do this in front of children because they do whatever their parents do. The parents are role models to kids. In the video, the lady's son is starting to be abusive towards girls because he watches his dad hit his mom. He even told his mom,"Then why do you let him hit you?" This was when I thought the boy learned to hit people from his dad. His dad is a very bad role model.

Animal Abuse (Response Of Sources)

This response is based on this link and this link.(click on "this link")

The first article is about Elephants being abused in Circus' and other entertaintment places. The organization mentioned is the Humane Society Of U.S. This organization is against them because first of all, it's animal CRUELTY. Second, it's against the law to torchure those animals just to do those tricks.
Why would anyone hurt an animal just to do tricks?! For Dogs, it's different. You just give them treats to do those tricks. To Elephants, it's difficult for them to do tricks because their body is not made for standing up. Only because it's hard to teach them, Circus' and other entertainment places use bullhooks. Bullhooks are very pointy. They also use electric prods which is like a machine that electrifies you.
The other article is about how our health is in danger. Since we eat eggs that may be from Hens that are mistreated and in bad health conditions, those genes are passed down to our health. Those Hens are in cages where dozens of them are in. Hens don't even have room to stretch their wings! Most of them don't even see daylight. What happens if you were living your whole life in a cage where you can't even stretch and never see daylight? That's crazy, but it's true to the Hens world.

Humans Are Sometimes Dogs Best Friend

I have just finished the book Wolf Brother by Michelle Paver. The main character of this book is Torak. Torak is a 12 year old boy who tries to defeat evil from his home land. The supporting character is a Wolf who is called Wolf. By reading this book, I know that your best friend doesn't have to be a human, it could be an animal, like Torak, his best friend is Wolf.
One way that Torak and Wolf have a strong relationship is when Torak was injured and Wolf lay down next to him. This shows that Wolf cares about Torak and felt sad when Torak was injured. There was a video that I watched when there was dead man covered in blankets, then his Dog lie down close to him. This shows that humans are sometimes Dogs best friends.
Another way is that Torak and Wolf always go on adventures together. They also restore peace to every problem together. This is like those superhero movies. There is a main superhero and a sidekick. The superhero is Torak and the sidekick is Wolf.
There are a lot of people who's best friends aren't only humans, but animals, like Torak. There are tons of ways to show this. I also think that sometimes a Dogs best friend is humans. It's uasually a humans best friend is a Dog.

Hard To Be 2 Diferent Races In 1 Person

I have just finished the book The Girl Who Fell From The Sky by Heidi W. Durrow which is mainly about this girl named Rachel who is half African American and half Danish. She has trouble trying to identify herself and is trying to hide her Danish side because she thinks she looks more African American.
She is trying to her Danish side at school because of two reasons. There is a bully at her school that always calls her light skinned because Rachel is light skinned because she is half white. If she tell the bully that she is half Danish, then the bully would tell everybody in her school, and there would be no more secret.
The other reason is that Rachel is hiding her Danish side because she doesn't want to remember the horror she went through when she was only a child. Sometimes she does remember that her mom, brother, and baby sister died trying to escape from a fire by jumping off the building, but if she does remember she is Danish, she will remember the horrors more often.
Reading this book makes me wonder how all the people that are alone because their family died, lived or live. It is very hard when you remember how it happened, so maybe that is why Rachel is trying to hide her Danish side. It's more easier to escape that moment trying to forget about it.

2 Really Good Blog Posts!!!

I really liked Isabelle's and Amber's blog post for several reasons. I like Isabelle's because she put in good details about the characters in her book which gives people that didn't read the book some background information. I liked Amber's blog also because she gave a really good summary about the book and also, she put her opinions about the book which not everybody does.
